Laura, Agnes win

Laura Siegemund of Germany and Agnes Szatmari of Romania lifted the doubles title at the Gujarat NRE Coke $50,000 ITF Women’s Challenger on Friday. The third seeds beat the China’s Jing-Jing Lu and Sheng-Nan Sun 7-5, 6-3.

Elora Dabija of Romania and Ayumi Morita of Japan reached the singles final. Dabija defeated Australian Sophie Ferguson 6-2, 7-6 (7/4) while Morita beat qualifier Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 6-1, 6-3.

Hockey meet

A six-a-side indoor hockey meet will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium from November 24-28, the BHA announced on Friday. Six teams — Bengal, Mumbai, Karnataka, Punjab, Jharkhand and North East Region — will take part. East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting will play in exhibition ties. Former Olympians and national level players will play for those teams.
