NISA out of tourney

Imphal/Hailakandi, Nov. 21: North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA) crashed out 0-2 to Indian National FC, New Delhi while Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC), Mumbai defeated Peerless, Delhi 3-1 in the opening Group D and C matches of the preliminary knockout round in the 30th Federation Cup Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal and Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar respectively today.

The first half of the game was somewhat evenly poised with both sides giving the other’s goalkeeper a testing time. However, the session was barren.

In the 79th minute of play, Indian National FC came up with the first goal as Opara drove a pass from the right penalty edge and Gyan Moyon tapped it into the net for the first goal.

In the 88th minute, Neeraj Chaudhury of Indian National made a centre line pass to Opara who dashed past two defenders to push home the second goal.

In Silchar, the match was a one-sided affair as the ONGC players took control of the match right from the word go.
