Poison death
Swapan Banerjee, 50, who attempted suicide by consuming poison and was admitted to MR Bangur Hospital on Tuesday, died on Thursday morning. Hospital superintendent Subhasish Saha said Banerjee’s viscera has been sent for forensic examination. Banerjee, his wife and son were found dead in their flat on Tuesday.
Malaria
Bimala Chanda, 82, died of malignant malaria on Thursday morning. The BK Pal Avenue resident had been suffering from fever since Sunday. Her blood reports tested positive on Wednesday. She died at her residence.
Bangladeshi
Abul Qasim, a Bangladeshi who was arrested from the New Market area on Wednesday, was produced in court on Thursday and given a transit remand till November 24. Police will take Qasim to Mekhliganj and hand him over to Assam police.

Yuuvraaj
, scheduled to release worldwide on Friday, has run into trouble in Calcutta with the distributor and multiplexes locking horns over revenue sharing. Till late on Thursday, the parties had not arrived at a solution. “The film will not run in city multiplexes,” said an official of Kapurchand Films, the distributor.
