Big money for statehood bash
- Mahima, Sanu in jamboree line-up

Ranchi, Nov. 12: It will be music, masti, magic and more as the state turns an elegant eight this Saturday.

If Bollywood’s Pardes girl Mahima Chaudhury is likely to show her latkas and jhatkas, Bhojpuri sensation Manoj Tiwary has already promised full-time fun. If tinseltown’s erstwhile playback boy Kumar Sanu is likely to rock the city, local lad Vinay Tiwary is in sync with the celebrations.

In a nutshell, the state will get its money’s worth. The lavish arrangements will leave the exchequer poor by Rs 1.5 crore, approximately.

Before the Saturday night fever, the state art, culture and sports department plans a prelude with a musical evening at Harmu ground on Friday.

Talking to The Telegraph, a senior government official said: “We have sent invitations to Mahima Chaudhury and Kumar Sanu. Initially, we wanted Raveena Tandon here, but she had no time to spare. The minister (read Bandhu Tirkey) wants to make the show a special one. We are waiting for confirmations from Mahima and Sanu’s managers. We have earmarked Rs 55 lakh for the show. There will be no dearth of funds even if the Bollywood stars make it.”

Art, culture, sports and youth affairs secretary R.S. Verma confirmed that invitations had been sent to Mahima and Sanu.

Sources said both guests are expected to arrive on Saturday to take part in the celebrations at Morabadi grounds. Manoj and Vinay and Deepak Tirkey of Chak de Bachche fame would steal the show at Harmu on the eve of the foundation day. The organisers are also seeking scriptwriter, director and producer Iqbal Durrani’s presence.

State HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey is said to be taking personal interest in the arrangements. He has rushed invites to Chhau, Paika, Santhali, Nagpuri artistes.

Sources in the cabinet co-ordination department, which is acting as the nodal agency for the foundation day celebrations, confirmed that more than Rs 1 crore had been set aside for the celebrations.
