Gangmen killed

Lucknow, Nov. 11 (PTI): Six gangmen working on a railway track were killed today after being hit by Sarnath Express near Kataya railway station in Chitrakoot district, police said.

The workers moved to this track when they saw a goods van approaching but did not realise a train was coming on that track too.

German rape

Chandigarh (PTI): A report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory has confirmed that a 20-year-old German tourist, who was allegedly abducted by five youths here nearly one-and-a-half-month ago, was raped. “The report is positive,” additional superintendent of police Madhur Verma said.

Jindal plane

Guwahati (PTI): Two tyres of a private plane carrying Haryana MP Navin Jindal burst at Guwahati airport on Tuesday. Commercial flight operations were disrupted as the plane was stranded on the approach runway. Jindal left for Arunachal Pradesh in a helicopter.

Ex-chief secy

Calcutta: Rathin Sengupta, a former chief secretary of Bengal, died on Tuesday following a heart attack. He was 78 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He retired as chief secretary in December 1988.

Entrance test

New Delhi (PTI): The All-India Engineering Entrance Examination for BE/BTech, BArch and BPlanning programmes in several national-level institutions will be held on April 26, 2009. Admission forms will be sold from December 5 to January 5 and the last date of submission is January 10, a CBSE release said.

Guru Nanak

Lahore (PTI): Over 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India are expected to participate in events commemorating the 540th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan this year. The celebrations will be held from November 11 to 13. About 25,000 Sikhs from across the world will participate in the events.
