First time lucky

I did my schooling in Panchgani. There wasn’t much scope to explore acting options there. It was only after shifting to Pune that things started rolling. And since I had always been keen on acting, it turned out to be a great move.

I got my first break in the serial Kasamh Se on Zee TV. I was only in the 12th standard at that point. Before that I had thought that it would take me a lot of time and hard work to become an actor, but it was all unexpectedly easy. It happened three years ago when Balaji Telefilms was looking for someone to play the character of Bani. I went for the auditions and was selected. They asked me to go to Mumbai for the final rounds and before I could even believe it, I had landed the role.

It was my very first audition. And I was actually thinking of going the whole hog after completing my exams. I thought I’d have to do a mass communications course perhaps, give hundreds of auditions, and there I was, playing Bani. I didn’t even get any time to think about it!

Playing Bani was a little difficult initially. I was 17 at that time and I was playing a character who was eight to 10 years older than me. I had never faced the camera before. But after a few days, things started sinking in and everything went well.

Kasamh Se is where I started from. It is the turning point of my life because my life took a complete turn after the serial. Rock On!! is the biggest turning point of my career. Both are equally special and have done a lot for me.

I am currently shooting for Life Partner directed by Rumi Jaffrey. Talks are on with other directors but nothing has been finalised yet. And yes, I am planning to stick to films now.
