Ethnic elegance

Style according to you is…

To wear your attitude — at all times.

Five items in your closet you can’t do without

Hats, designer purses, lingerie, a pair of jeans and lipstick.

Most extravagant buy

A DKNY perfume which cost me a bomb.

What do you like to mix and match?

I love mixing chunky accessories with traditional clothes. For instance, I usually team elegant saris with bold, chunky jewellery.

What kind of a shopper are you?

I’m a passionate shopper. If I really like something, I can’t help myself and must buy it. I find Satya Paul saris irresistible.

Your favourite shopping destination

Bangkok, as it’s the place where I can pick up the best brands at reasonable prices.

You have a fetish for

I have loads of lipsticks in unusual shades.

Your desert uniform would be…

What the women wore in the film, The Ten Commandments.

Stranded on an island, your uniform would be…

A designer bikini.

Which character out of literature would you like to dress as?

After reading The Mahabharata, Draupadi.

Did you ever go through a wild fashion phase?

I’ve just completed shooting for a reality show which demanded that I wore a dress made with leaves.

What would you throw out on a cleaning spree?

Lingerie which is more than three months old…

You have a nose for?

Nose rings in silver.

Whose closet do you envy and why?

Sushmita Sen because she’s a very classy dresser.

Biggest fashion faux pas…

I wore slippers with business attire.

One aspect of fashion that bugs you the most…

The obsession with big brands annoys me.

If you could change any one of your features, what would it be?

I wish I had large eyes and longer eyelashes.

A beauty tip

While doing your make-up, give priority to your eyes.

Favourite accessories

I never miss wearing earrings and love experimenting with them.

Latest buys

An expensive purse, shoes, a lipstick and of course, earrings…

If money was no object, what would you add to your closet?

Some more high-end shades.

The trend you are sporting at the moment

I love setting a trend and then following it…

Essentials in your handbag

Lipstick, eye pencil, MAC Studiofix foundation, my spectacles and tissue paper.

Indian designers whose creations you love wearing?

Satya Paul, Radhika Singhi and Abhishek Dutta are my favourites.

Inherited treasures…

My grandmother gifted me a peach Benarasi sari which has a pallu and border embroidered with pure silver threads. She also gave me a gold bracelet that’s set with precious stones.
