‘TZP has done for me what five films would do for an actor’
Shining bright: Tisca Chopra

Post Taare Zameen Par, actress Tisca Maya Awasthi Chopra is on a high. t2 caught up with the lovely lady on the sidelines of Olay Sananda Twak of the Town.

Looking beautiful is one thing, feeling beautiful is everything. Easier said than done?

See, most of us tend to focus on our weaknesses and that becomes an area of obsession. What we must realise is that we have an equal number of good things. Feeling good about the way you are is very important. I think true beauty comes from a giving heart.

What’s your skincare mantra?

Love yourself. Take time out for yourself. It can be a hobby or some place you love going to. Believe me, this is the real skincare! Cleanse, moisturise and boost with serum. Drink lots of water and avoid spicy food.

What is life like after Taare Zameen Par?

Dream-like. It has done what five films would do for an actor. I have got love, respect and opportunity.

You have worked with a male director (Aamir Khan) as well as a woman director (Nandita Das for Firaaq). Is there a difference?

No. It is not really gender-based. Aamir (Khan) has too much information about cinema. That made him easy to make suggestions to. Nandita (Das) on the other hand was clear about what she wanted.

Finally, Taare Zameen Par is going to compete at the Oscars. Are you nervous, excited or confident?

I am not nervous at all. Even if it does not win anything, I won’t be sad. What has given me great happiness is that after the film released, I have heard that the relationship between parents and children have started changing in the country. I have heard that they are putting less pressure on their kids now, which is a great thing.
