Trains cancelled
Train services on Sealdah (South) section were disrupted on Monday morning for one-and-a-half hours after the front coach of a Sealdah-Budge Budge train got derailed near Sealdah. No one was injured. Six pairs of trains were cancelled and 18 trains were delayed for 20 minutes.
Electrocuted
Rohit Ali Mondol, 11, and his brother Mohit,4, were electrocuted after they touched a wire fence while flying a kite on Monday in New Town’s Dhasra locality. Police said residents had erected the fence to keep out foxes. The wires possibly came in contact with a high-voltage electricity line running beside it.
US polls
The American Center will organise Election Watch, a special event covering the US presidential polls. The elections, which will be held on November 4, can be seen at The Galaxy, Park Hotel annexe, on November 5 from 5.30am to 1pm.
Bomb scare
An abandoned bag found near the bridge connecting the EM Bypass and Sonarpur triggered panic in the area on Monday afternoon. Police found clothes and papers in the bag.
