Jamshedpur, Nov. 2: Friends and family members fondly remembered shoe baron Ashish Dey on his first death anniversary today.
Organised by Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce, the meeting was held in front of footwear shop Sreeleathers at Sakchi market.
Traders, shopkeepers, businessmen and BJP members also attended the meeting.
“Ashish was a kind of person, who was never intimidated by threat or pressure. By sacrificing his life, he has taught us not to succumbed to any pressure and we should draw inspiration for his stance,” said Suresh Sonthalia, the general secretary of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
BJP leaders Amarpreet Singh Kale, Vinod Singh and Dineshanand Goswami and Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce member Mohanlal Agrawal also spoke on the occasion.
Although police have not been able to solve the murder case, Shekhar Dey, the elder brother of Ashish, was all praise for East Singhbhum superintendent of police Naveen Kumar Singh for his sincerity and helping attitude.
Owner of Sreeleather’s Sakchi showroom and hotel Smita, Ashish Dey (52) was gunned down by unknown assailants in broad-day-light on November 2 last year. Dey fell to assailants’ bullet when he was on his way to the showroom from his house at Aam Bagan under Sakchi police station area. He was later declared as brought dead when taken to the Tata Main Hospital’s emergency.
Traders took to the street to protest against Dey’s murder.
The protests prompted the police to make hasty arrest. Naveen Kumar Singh was supervising the investigation, many suspects including builders were interrogated but no conclusion was reached.
The police arrested Jitendra Singh from Bokaro. Jitendra underwent narco analysis test at Forensic Science laboratory in Bangalore.
In the narco test, Jitendra allegedly revealed the name of hotelier Vinod Singh behind the murder and said he had financed the killing. Amlesh Singh, the brother of dreaded criminal Akhilesh Singh, was also interrogated.
