Style according to you is…
For me style is all about making an entry in a grand way. If you dont have style, your presence will go unnoticed at a large gathering. For instance, Napoleon Bonaparte was short but he had a towering personality. I believe style should reflect ones personality.
Five items in your closet you cant do without
Perfumes, shoes, big belts, a red dress, black tight skirts that end below the knees.
Most extravagant buy
I dont pick up anything by looking at the price tag because I am all for quality. If the product is good, I will buy it.
What kind of a shopper are you?
I have a passion for buying clothes and I do so very patiently. I am not an impulsive shopper but I am very adventurous in all my buys.
Your favourite shopping destination
New York. It has something to offer throughout the year. I also shop a lot in Paris as I love the finesse of the French designers.
You have a fetish for
Loads and loads of sunglasses in funky shapes. I have limited edition sunglasses from Versace and Dolce & Gabbana.
Favourite accessories
I am obsessed with shoes and I have quite a collection of sandals and stilettos. I always look at peoples shoes because I feel shoes are a giveaway of the kind of person one is.
How would you describe your closet — well-organised and spanking clean or dreadfully cluttered?
In my wardrobe, every little thing has a specific place. I can tell you blindfolded where my sunglasses are or where I have kept my jewellery. They are kept neatly in plastic pouches.
Latest buys
I love to wear bows with my shirts so I recently bought a big bow from Paris.
If money was no object, what would you add to your closet?
I would add solitaires to my jewellery collection. I am not a feminine dresser but I like to wear just one bold and chunky piece of jewellery which I think gives an edge to ones dressing.
If there was a fire, what would you save?
I will grab my passport.
Indian designers whose creations you love wearing
Rohit Bal because hes extremely creative and he can even make a simple kurta look special. I also like Suneet Varmas saris.
Inherited treasures…
My silverware (that consists of dinner trays and intricately carved silver furniture) which is 200 years old as well as rare Burmese gems which I have inherited from my mother.
Is there any outfit you love to wear but which your family just hates?
I dont dress up according to what my family likes. My comfort is what matters the most to me.
Your desert uniform would be…
A leopard print dress so that people can notice me from a distance.
Which character out of films would you like to dress as?
Audrey Hepburn for the naughty look in her eyes and for her confident personality.
What would you throw out on a cleaning spree?
Anything which is not fitted because I hate wearing such clothes.
You have a nose for?
I have a nose for body odour and I cannot stand people who smell bad.
Biggest fashion faux pas…
Once I mixed and matched my outfit for party and the end result was so bad that the next day all the papers carried photographs of me. It was such an embarrassment.
If you could change any one of your features, what would it be?
I would undoubtedly like to change my tummy.
A fashion tip...
Less is always more and I tell people to go easy on the bling. One should also flaunt a single piece of jewellery instead of walking around like a Christmas tree.
