Imphal, Oct. 31: Manipur is all set to host the 2nd East Zone Sepak Takraw Championship and the 19th Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship from November 3 to 9 at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium here.
Twenty-two teams, except Bihar, have confirmed their participation in the championship. The Uttar Pradesh team has already landed in Imphal yesterday.
The Bihar team pulled out of the 19th Senior National championship because of the Ragailong blast on the eve of Diwali night, which resulted in the death of some migrant workers from Bihar.
For the 2nd East Zone Sepak Takraw Championship from November 3-4, Nagaland, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Orissa and Manipur have confirmed their participation. These seven teams will then join Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand in the 19th Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship from November 5-9.
Assam squad: The Assam Sepak Takraw Association today named the squad for the dual meet, says a staff reporter from Guwahati.
Men’s team: L. Kuljit Sinha, E. Sunil Sinha, Y. Manikanta Sinha, P. Irabant Sinha, L. Ranjan Kumar Sinha, Y. Bedanta Sinha, Y. Amrit Kanta Sinha, Nilotpal Phukan, Mukul Chutia, Kamal Krishna Bharali, Ajit Sarkar, Nabin Sinha, Gopal Boro, K. Ibungobi Sinha and Y. Ratan Kumar Sinha.
Women’s team: L. Thoinu Chanu, Padmini Sinha, L. Ibeton Sinha, W. Rumena Sinha, Ng. Babita Sinha, Richa Misra, G. Gobita Sarma, L. Haripriya Devi, Ng. Bharti Devi, Simulata Sinha, Lakshmitombi Sinha, Saboni Bhowmik, Khiroprabha Bora and A. Bindyarani Devi.
