Pune: Top seed Saina Nehwal stormed into the third round of the girls’ singles event of the World Junior badminton tournament on Wednesday. Saina, who got a bye in the first round, defeated Turkey’s Ozge Bayrak 21-11, 21-8 in just 21 minutes.

Apart from Saina, no other Indian girl could progress to the third round.

In the mixed doubles, Indian duo of Sai Praneeth B and Pradnya Gadre sailed into the third round, defeating Kiwi pair of James Eunson and Michelle Chan 21-15, 21-12. (PTI)
