it’s a house

Walking wonder

Ever heard of a house that moves and has legs? Well, with fears of global warming and rising water levels artists from Denmark and scientists from the US have built a house that can walk. This house stands at a height of 10 feet and is powered by solar and wind energy. It is supported by six hydraulic legs and can stroll across all terrains. The house is equipped with a living room, kitchen, toilet, bed, wood stove and a mainframe computer, which controls the legs, reports The Daily Telegraph. This unique house was built by a Copenhagen-based company in collaboration with engineers at the Massachusets Institute of Technology, USA. People who designed the house claim that it provides a solution to the problem of rising water levels as the house can simply walk away from flood waters. It took £30,000 to build the prototype, but the designers think that it could be constructed for a lot less.

It’s showtime!

Autumn is coming to an end and so are the festivities. But there’s still a lot to do. Disney Channel has launched its biggest inter-school dance competition, titled ‘My School Rocks’. The winners will get a chance to feature in a Disney Channel music video, choreographed by Shiamak Davar. The contest will travel through eight cities and the nation-wide auditions will start in November. The auditions in Calcutta will be held on December 1, 2008.
