Traders rescued
Nagaon, Oct. 21: Two businessmen who were abducted last night were rescued by a joint team of security forces and Karbi Anglong police from an abandoned house in Upendra Changma basti under Borlangfar police station this morning.
Mintu Pradhan and Kankan Dutta, on their way to Lumding, were waylaid by the abductors on Diphu-Lumding Road at 8.30pm.

Tinsukia: Tinsukia police on Tuesday registered a case against four PWD officials for their alleged involvement in a road construction scam under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Logs seized
Dibrugarh: The forest department on Tuesday seized 220 logs from Rohmoria. Officials suspect that the logs were ferried across the Brahmaputra from Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and stacked in Rohmoria for sawing.
Deori demand
Jorhat: The All Assam Deori Students’ Union on Tuesday demanded immediate elections to Deori Autonomous Council on the basis of a separate voters’ list and till such time a 20-member Deori council is constituted.
