Koneenica shoots for an item number

Guess what Koneenica Banerjee was doing in that sexy green ghagra choli in the dead of night in Entally market? Shaking her booty to a raunchy item number, surrounded by a bunch of men hooting and leering at her.

“It’s an item number for Shiboprasad Mukherjee’s Hello Memsaheb, a comedy starring Jeet and Priyanka Trivedi,” revealed Koni, flaunting a tattoo on her belly button.

“I was a bit apprehensive when Shibuda (Shiboprasad) approached me with the idea. I had never done an item number before. But I found the concept very interesting... dancing in the market. Besides, it isn’t one of those stupid item songs where girls shake every part of their body in very little clothes. The item song in Hello Memsaheb goes with the script. So I agreed. And I loved doing it,” gushed Koneenica, who plays a paanwali in the song sequence.

The jhatkas and matkas were a smooth sail because Koneenica loves dancing. “I dance even when I am down. The only part where I got stuck for a while was a rope scene. I had to hang from a rope and balance myself. So I was a little tense in the beginning but things soon fell into place. Swinging in the air was great fun!” she added.

The film’s director is all praise for the TV star’s twinkle toes. “Koni is a very good dancer. I knew it as I had directed her in Ritur Mela Jhoom Tara Ra Ra, the ETV Bangla dance show that Koni had won. So when I thought of an item number, I only thought of her. She was so graceful in front of 200 people in Entally market. I think Koni can give Rakhi Sawant a run for her money!” said Shiboprasad.
