Jamshedpur, Oct. 14: BJP legislator from Jamshedpur (west) Sarayu Roy today visited Shastrinagar in Kadma, where tension brewed over construction of a community hall yesterday.
After visiting the spot, Roy maintained that they have already received clearance from Tata Steel for the construction of the community hall beside the Hanuman temple and it is now up to the East Singhbhum district administration to ensure that it is built.
“The money for developing the community hall has been sanctioned from my MLA fund. We have received all the clearance and the construction work was being carried out by Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee. Residents of the area stalled the work thinking that the hall would block the path connecting the main road to the colony situated beside the temple,” said Roy.
Meawhile, Sub-divisional officer of Dhalbhum Ganesh Kumar also visited the area and claimed that he is now waiting for a final report from Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee before taking a final decision.
“A group of residents there have claimed that the community hall would block their path and we are trying to verify it. I visited the spot today but the picture is still not clear to me,” said Kumar.
According to him, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has been asked to inform whether the community hall, after construction, would block the passage as alleged by a group of residents. The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee would once again measure the plot before filing a report to the East Singhbhum district administration.
“Once we get the report we would try and settle the issue between two parties. We have to ascertain whether the concern of resident is genuine or not. The administration would definitely take measures for solving the problem of the residents, if any,” added Kumar.
The administration today removed the security arrangement that was put up on Monday night in view of the tension that flared up in the morning.
Roy rubbished the fear of residents that the hall, after construction, would become a haven for goons and trouble makers. He said the hall is being built as the people of Shastrinagar has asked for it.
The legislator said he is in touch with senior administrative officials and is trying to start the construction work as soon as possible.
