Dumka, Oct. 14: Bachpan, a Deoghar-based voluntary organisation running elementary schools, today organised a function to felicitate its director, Rupashree.

Rupashree was recently conferred the prestigious “Rashtriya Shiksha Ratan” award on the occasion of the 49th annual conference of Indian Economic Development and Research Association (IEDRA) held on October 11 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi for her contribution in the field of girl child education.

Speaking at the felicitation programme today, Rupashree put more emphasis on the plights and miseries of children, especially girls, from slum areas.

The IEDRA conference, where Rupashree was awarded, veered around the theme of industrial globalisation and world peace and various budding educationists were awarded under different categories. Raghunath Lal, the Governor of Bihar, was the chief guest on the occasion.
