Legislator detained in Godda

Dumka, Oct. 14: Poraiyahat legislator and JVM leader Pradeep Yadav was detained along with more than 200 party activists today while they were trying to enforce 48-hour Lalmatiya bandh, disrupting mining activities at Rajmahal coal project in Godda.

JVM had called for the 48-hour bandh starting today to press for several demands, including immediate rail connectivity for Godda, conversion of Pirpainty-Godda road into a four-lane thoroughfare and 24-hour power supply.

Tight security arrangements were made in the area and both CISF and district police personnel were pressed into service.

The bandh had partial impact on normal life but mining activities such as excavation and transportation of coal continued as usual.

On October 13, Yadav led a delegation of the party cadets and handed over the list of the demands with signatures of over a lakh people to the sub-divisional officer of Godda.
