Bomb on bus

Guwahati, Oct. 11: A three-kg bomb was recovered from a public bus near Bishnu Dhaba in Nalbari district at 11am on Saturday. he bus was on its way from Barpeta Road to Guwahati. Three persons have been picked up in this connection.

Smuggler

Dhubri: A trans-border smuggler, Sohidur Rahman, was apprehended with cattle while 252kg contraband and 49 cattle worth Rs 22 lakh were seized by BSF from two different places along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district on Saturday. BSF also seized five country boats with wheat and rice during overnight raids along the border.

Fraud held

Nagaon: One Chandra Das, accountant of Brahampur Development Block was arrested here on Friday night on charges of misutilisation of government funds.

INPT demand

Agartala (PTI): The INPT on Saturday demanded a CBI inquiry into the serial blasts that rocked Agartala on October 1, leaving nearly 100 people wounded.

Injured

Imphal (UNI): Seventeen students were injured in an accident at Tengnoupal in Manipur’s Chandel district on Saturday. The students were going to Moreh for an excursion. They were hospitalised for treatment.

Two dead

Kohima (UNI): Chuba Chang, council chairman of Tuensang village, was killed while three others were seriously injured when their private vehicle fell into a deep gorge on National Highway 61 near Botsa. In another incident, an unidentified woman was run over by a goods train near Dimapur railway station on Friday.

Huji activist

Shillong (UNI): Meghalaya police detained a suspected Huji activist, Habibur Rehman, from Bholaganj village in East Khasi Hills, police said on Saturday.
