I wear new clothes only on Ashtami so I like Ashtami the best. Also, I offer anjali to the Goddess and feast on khichuri on that day with all my friends and family.

My favourite day of the Pujas is Ashtami as it marks the peak of the Pujas. Once Navami sets in, I begin to feel bad as it implies that the Pujas are nearing an end. I am also quite fond of the Mahalaya, which is seven days before the Pujas and heralds the beginning of the festive season.

For the last few years, my work schedule has been very hectic and I have been travelling so frequently that I have missed out on the Pujas completely. But for me, the best part of the festivities is the run-up to the Pujas all the excitement, the preparations and shopping for clothes. Shasthi is my favourite day as theres so much to look forward to. By Navami, a feeling of sadness begins to creep in though.

Ashtami wins hands down as my favourite day! Beautiful Bengali girls, who usually never get out of their jeans and T-shirts, turn out in lal paar saris for aarti and pushpanjali, especially on Ashtami. The aalta on their feet makes for an even prettier sight. And when they shut their eyes in devotion while worshipping the Goddess, you get to ogle at them unabashedly.
Nandana Sen Actor
I like Saptami since one is filled with a sense of anticipation for the rest of the Puja days. I love offering pushpanjali to the Goddess and also enjoy tucking into the khichuri bhog which some pandals offer from the very first day of the Pujas. Shasthi is also beautiful with the sound of dhaakis bringing Calcutta to life.
