Manipur stuns all

Imphal, Oct. 1: Manipur climbers left their opponents in the dust, collecting 10 medals, including three gold, in the 10th North East Zone Sports Climbing Competition held at Kangla Rock Wall at Minuthong today.

Meghalaya is their closest contender with four medals, including two gold. Arunachal Pradesh is trailing with three medals, including one gold.

In the men’s open bouldering event, it was a clean sweep for hosts Manipur with Salam Surchandra Singh taking the gold, Th. David Singh bagging the silver and M. Shyamson Singh collecting the bronze.

Manipur climbers also won all the medals on offer in the sub-junior boys’ lead final event. Lamabam Muhindro Singh took the gold while Ashem Subash Singh fetched the silver and Kangujam Surjit Singh settled for the bronze.

H. Malemnganba Meitei of Manipur won the gold in the junior boys’ lead final event. H. Raju Singh settled for the silver and T. Bobo of Arunachal Pradesh took the bronze.

Meghalaya’s first gold for the day was delivered by Verisha Maring in the junior girls’ lead final event. Sarangthem Landhoni Devi of Manipur won the silver and Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih of Meghalaya fetched the bronze.

Nabum Yapu of Arunachal Pradesh won the gold in the sub-junior girls’ lead final event. Pingili Elapra of Arunachal Pradesh settled for the silver and Ph. Dayarani Devi of Manipur won the bronze.

In the women’s lead final event, Wansuk Mythong of Meghalaya clinched the gold, while Dimchuilu Inkah of Manipur grabbed the silver and Roiwanki Suchiang of Meghalaya took the bronze.
