Chundan, a steel snake boat with 136 rowers and five helmsmen in Kochi, Kerala, has entered the Guinness World Records for carrying 141 people on board. The innovative boat is 143.25ft long, 5.74ft wide and weighs 8 tonnes. Kerala made another record on Saturday as Kottayam was declared the first tobacco-free district in the country, a few days before the proposed nationwide ban on smoking in public spaces and workplaces kicks in. Public works minister Mons Joseph said all tobacco and tobacco-related products had been removed from shop counters across the district after a yearlong exercise. (PTI)
