Saheba, Shastri get nominated

Calcutta: Umpires Amish Saheba and Suresh Shastri have been nominated on the ICC international panel by the BCCI. Shavik Tarapore will replace Pratap Kumar as the third umpire.

The BCCI also approved the increased payments for domestic players, and has decided to set up an exclusive sports medicine centre.

The audited statement of accounts and annual report for 2007-08 were approved unanimously.

Cricketers who played in the Ranji Trophy in the 2007-08 season will receive Rs 37,000 each per match day.

The BCCI will celebrate the platinum jubilee of the first Test played on Indian soil (versus England in December 1933) on December 17 2008.

The BCCI has approved a plan to set up a sports medicine centre, which will help cricketers as well as sportspersons from other disciplines.

The rules and regulations of the BCCI applicable to players, umpires and administrators were suitably amended.

The following associations have been granted affiliate membership — Meghalaya Cricket Association, Nagaland Cricket Association and Arunachal Cricket Association.

The general body has authorised the working committee to take a final decision on them, as more than one organisation from the region has claimed representation.
