Shillong, Sept. 23: The much-awaited report of the Fourth Pay Commission, aimed at hiking the salary and allowances of state government employees, will be submitted to the Meghalaya government in December. Principal finance secretary B.K. Dev Verma said today that the Fourth Pay Commission, headed by former state chief secretary K.K. Sinha, would submit the report after two months. The pay commission was set up last year.
The commission’s task was to examine the emoluments of the state government employees, to recommend a comprehensive pay package, to look into the pension structure and other relevant matters.
According to the third Pay Commission, the government spends Rs 80 crore annually on salary and other allowances. Sources said after the recommendation of the commission, the total expenditure for the government could be more than Rs 100 crore.
