The initial Bolly buzz was that Goldie Behl’s magnum opus Drona went way over-budget because the film had to be re-shot many times. Then the buzz was that the visual effects in the film were initially very tacky and the Rose Movies thinktank decided they needed to be done all over again. But the real story is something else. A source close to the Drona unit says: “The film went over-budget only because of the Abhishek-Aishwarya marriage!”

Well, the story goes that Goldie and his team had no idea of Abhishek-Aishwarya’s plans of getting hitched. So they went ahead and planned a costly schedule in Prague, little realising that the marriage and its aftermath would throw their scheduling into a complete tizzy.

So, rather than the film being reshot, the film got pushed back. What was first meant to be an answer to Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish and kind of ride piggyback on the superhero craze was left without a peg thanks to the time lag.

Now, the Abhishek-Priyanka film is finally releasing on October 2. If you catch an old frame too many, don’t be surprised... this Drona has been waiting in the wings for quite some time.
