Dibrugarh, Sept. 16: Runner-up Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh will take on Margherita College in the first quarterfinal of the Dibrugarh University inter-college football tournament here on Thursday.

The final rounds of the tournament will also get under way at the university playground from the same day after the preliminary rounds, which were held in six different zones.

The other colleges that have been able to enter the final rounds of the meet are Sarupathar College, Golaghat, N.L.B. City College, Dibrugarh, Gargaon College, Sivasagar, Mariani College of Jorhat district.

Holders Silapathar College and runner-up AMC had been given direct entry into the final rounds.

Another team will also feature in the final draw from the Dhemaji zone, the matches of which were postponed due to the floods.

“The final will be played on September 22”, Pranab Baruah, director-in-charge of Dibrugarh University Sports Board said.
