Two-plea penalty
Madurai, Sept. 10 (PTI): The Madras High Court today imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,000 on two petitioners for filing more than one writ petition.
Justice K. Chandru said it was unfortunate that petitions were being filed in fictitious names, without disclosing that similar petitions had been filed.

New Delhi (PTI): A hi-tech wireless sensor network will be installed along railway tracks to prevent elephant deaths. The Wildlife Institute of India in collaboration with IIT-Delhi took the initiative following recent incidents of elephants being hit by speeding trains.
Pilgrims dead
Ahmedabad (PTI): Nine pilgrims were killed and more than 20 injured in Sabarkantha district in Gujarat on Wednesday when a speeding truck rammed into the stationary tractor carrying them, police said.
Kinng trouble
Indore (PTI): A petition alleging Sikhs were shown in an objectionable manner in the movie Singh is Kinng has demanded action against its cast and director. The petitioner said Akshay Kumar, who plays the role of a Sikh, was shown in a French-cut beard and short hair, which would send a wrong message to Sikh youths.
