GNLF leaders in hospital
Darjeeling, Sept. 9: GNLF’s Darjeeling branch committee president Deepak Gurung and its trade union chief N.K. Kumai, currently on a hunger-strike in jail, were shifted to the district hospital today after their blood pressure dropped.
The duo and a dozen others had been arrested after shots fired from Gurung’s house killed Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supporter Pramila Sharma on July 25. The accused want bail and the transfer of the case from the hills.
Flights
Siliguri: Air India has reintroduced its Calcutta-Bagdogra services from August 30. The IC 721 flight will leave Calcutta on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1.05pm and reach Bagdogra at 2pm. The IC 722 flight will leave Bagdogra at 2.40pm and reach Calcutta at 3.35pm on the same days. Air India will also operate additional flights from September 14 to November 9. They will take off from Calcutta at 2pm to reach Bagdogra at 2.55pm and leave Bagdogra at 3.35pm to land at Calcutta at 4.30pm on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Stabbed
Jalpaiguri: Paritosh Biswas of Kotwali was stabbed by a man on the Jalpaiguri court premises after he refused to give him Rs 10. Lawyers later assaulted the attacker, Dilip Das.
Rhino dead
Siliguri: A female rhino was found dead on the bank of the Murti in Gorumara National Park on Monday.
