Drowned

Dhubri, Sept. 8: A two-year-old child, Reshmina Sheikh, fell into a pond and drowned in Uttar Geramari village in Dhubri district today while she was playing. Her body was fished out in the evening.

Demand

Dhubri: Dhubri district unit of All Adivasi Students’ Union and two other organisations on Monday demanded the arrest of the murderer of Munni Soansi, 27, a teacher at Chapor Tea Garden, who was found dead on September 4.

Surrender

Diphu: Two KNLF militants, Arlong Rongpi and Wilson Rongpi, surrendered at Diphu on Monday before the 72 Mountain Division. They deposited two pistols, three grenades and six rounds of live ammunition.

Bongaigaon: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights will submit a report to the Assam government about the problems faced by the children in the displaced camps at Deosri in Chirang and Salabila in Bongaigaon.
