Assam flood scene improves
Guwahati (PTI): The overall flood situation in Assam on Sunday improved marginally with the Brahmaputra and its tributaries showing a receding trend though it was still flowing above the danger level in most of the 18 affected districts of the state.
he current wave of the floods, which is the third since June this year, has claimed 18 lives and affected more than 50 lakh people.
Kohima: S. Ghosh, principal of Little Star Higher Secondary School, PWD colony, Dimapur, who was abducted by unidentified persons on September 2, was yet to be traced on Sunday. Police were not clear about the motive of the abduction, as the kidnappers had not contacted the Ghosh family.
Dhubri: A three-year old child, Mrinal Hoque of Darchouka Part II village of Dhubri district, drowned in the river on Saturday evening. His body was later fished out.
Dhubri: A group of people of Dudhnoi under Goalpara district formed a committee on Sunday to collect relief materials for the flood victims of Majuli. The committee appealed to the people to donate generously.

Shillong: The body Ranghehbok Syiem of Jaiaw Shyiap, Shillong, who committed suicide on September 1, was fished out by police on Saturday from Umiam Lake.
