Row over student slap

Raiganj, Sept. 4: Guardians of a Class IX student of a high school here today complained to the headmaster against a teacher who had allegedly slapped the boy causing his ear to bleed for not responding to the roll call, reports our correspondent.

“I was writing a test yesterday and did not hear the roll call. The teacher came and slapped my ear,” said the student. His mother Shukla Karmakar felt that the teacher beat up the boy “cruelly”.

Headmaster of Mohanbati High School Naresh Das said the teacher did not hurt the student “intentionally”. The slap had aggravated the pain that the boy had in the infected ear, a doctor said.
