Woman killed

Dibrugarh, Sept. 2: An unidentified woman died on the spot when the Dibrugarh-bound Kamrup Express hit her near Pathanpatty in Dibrugarh today. Local residents held up the train for an hour in protest against the incident.

Body found

Dhubri: An unidentified body was found near Chagolia inter-state checkgate in Dhubri district on Tuesday. The body was sent to Dhubri civil hospital for post-mortem.

Man held

Dhubri: One contraband trafficker, identified as Saidul Islam, 24, was arrested by the BSF while he was crossing over to Bangladesh with 24kg contraband from Jhaler Char along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district on Monday night.

Carlifters

Nagaon: Police on Tuesday arrested a five-member gang of carlifters from Nagaon when the members were about to take an Indica car to Dimapur.

Deer killed

Guwahati: A deer died after being hit by a speeding vehicle on National Highway 37 near Kaziranga on Tuesday. Forest officials said the swamp deer was crossing the highway to escape the floods to the adjacent Karbi Anglong Hills when it was hit.
