BJP meet to revive ailing industries

Jamshedpur, Aug. 31: The industrial cell of the BJP would conduct a survey to identify the sick units across the country.

Decision to this effect was taken on concluding day of the national executive committee meeting of the BJP’s industrial cell at Chambers Bhavan today.

During the two-day brainstorming sessions, executive committee members discussed various topics that are plaguing industries in the country. The cell also called for uniform taxation policies all over the country.

“We would soon initiate measures for constituting district-level committees in every state. The proposed survey for identifying the sick units would be taken up by the district-level committees,” said state BJP president of the industrial cell A.K. Srivastava.

The cell proposes to use the survey to provide relief to the industrial units, especially small ones, from Union government. “Since the state government cannot provide any relief to the sick units, we have decided to raise this issue with the Centre. Most of the departments that can provide relief to a sick unit are Union government’s agency and we would approach them with our problems,” said a member of the BJP industrial cell.

At the meet, it was higlighted that in most of the state a 99 year land lease is provided to industrial houses, the cell called for a same policy in Jharkhand.

Presently, the state government provides a 30 year lease to industrial houses, which members claim, affects small-scale units.

Srivastava said the state and the Union government are loosing a lot of revenue in absence of a uniform taxation structure in the country.
