Cellular foray push
New Delhi, Aug. 24: The department of telecom (DoT) will allocate start-up spectrum to new players in four more circles of Maharashtra, Mumbai, Calcutta and Madhya Pradesh after it got a clean chit from Delhi High Court. GSM body Cellular Operators Association of India had opposed the move to give new licences saying there was not enough spectrum.

New Delhi, Aug. 24: The power sector has cornered a lion’s share of the Rs 633,906-crore investment announced by companies during January-June 2008, industry body Assocham said.The energy sector attracted investments worth Rs 195,913 crore. The other major sectors attracting huge investments included real estate, steel, retail and telecom.
Warehousing
New Delhi, Aug. 24: Warehousing is set to become a $55-billion sector by 2010-11 with around 45 million sq ft space expected to be developed in the country in the next five years supplemented by around 110 logistics parks.
Investor cap
New Delhi, Aug. 24: The government and market regulator Sebi are unlikely to raise the investment limit for single investors — individual or institutional —in stock exchanges from the present five per cent, sources said.
Oil burden
New Delhi, Aug. 24: The Centre has rejected the demand of states for sharing half of their Rs 8,000-crore burden this fiscal. The loss was suffered after they cut sales tax on petroleum products to minimise the impact of the fuel price hike announced by the Union government in June.
Yes Bank
Mumbai, Aug. 24: Yes Bank plans to launch its asset reconstruction business by the year-end, managing director and CEO Rana Kapoor said. The bank, which will hold a 29.5 per cent stake in the asset reconstruction company, has engaged three public sector banks, besides a leading foreign bank, as partners to the business.
Durables sales
New Delhi, Aug. 24: The consumer durables sector, which has been facing a sluggish demand over the last few quarters, is expected to witness a topline growth of over 10 per cent in the current fiscal, a survey by the Confederation of Indian Industries said.
