Women held
Dibrugarh, Aug. 22:
Two women were arrested after their mother-in-law was found dead in her bathroom in Dibrujan Jalan Nagar colony this morning. eighbours found Saraswati Rai Bhowmick’s body around 10.30am and informed the police, who later picked up Silpi and Ruma Bhowmick for interrogation.
Blast suspects
Bongaigaon:
Five Ulfa linkmen, Rituram Boro, Sankar Deb Sangha, Dipesh Roy, Sanjoy Singha and Bipul Singha, suspected to have been involved in bomb blasts in the district in the past few days, have been arrested, Bongaigaon SP Lachit Baruah said on Friday.
Carlifters
Dergaon:
Three carlifters, Benu Basumatary, Mukanda Barua and Puseswar Saikia, picked up by Dhansiri police on Thursday night, confessed to their involvement in killing crude oil transporter Tirtha Saikia Saikia and two others before driving away with a Maruti Swift two years ago.
Drowned
Nagaon:
Two girls, Divayajyoti Saikia and Krishna Bordoloi, drowned in a pond at Kopahara in Nagaon.
