Newborn dead

The body of a newborn was recovered from the Bharalu near GS Colony on Friday morning. An unnatural death case has been registered at Bharalumukh police station.

Arrested

A 39-year-old man, Hilal Choudhury, was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor at Byrnihat under Sonapur police outpost on Friday. Police said the victim was his neighbour.

Examination

The first semester examination of the post-graduate diploma in computer application under Gauhati University will be held in September. Monday is the last date for submission of examination forms and fees with fine.

Suicide

A 17-year-old girl, Sangeeta Mandal, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her rented house in Madhapur under Fatasil Ambari police station on Friday.

Construction

The GMC has decided to construct a fabricated shade over the open filtered water reservoir at Satpukhuri water treatment plant to prevent water pollution.
