After twin albums in English and Hindi, Boston-based singer Somen Saha was back in Calcutta for the launch of his first Bengali album, Khoj. This is a homecoming album for me, says the 40-year-old graduate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Khoj (P&M Records; Rs 125) was launched at the Elgin Road outlet of Planet M on Saturday.
An eight-song album with arrangements by Prabuddha Banerjee (music director forVia Darjeeling), Mumbai-based Rajesh Roy and Indrajit Sen, Khoj, says Somen, keeps the emphasis strong on melody. The opener, Hey!, has been composed by Pritam (Chakraborty).
