Blast tests

Mumbai, Aug. 13 (PTI): The US national from whose Internet protocol address a threat email was sent before the Ahmedabad serial blasts has been sent for lie detector test, police said.

“Kenneth Heywood, along with eight to 10 suspects, has been sent for lie detector and brain mapping tests,” an anti-terrorist squad official said. Heywood lives in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.

Six drown

Uppinangady (PTI): Six labourers were washed away in the waters of the Neerakatte dam on Wednesday. The accident occurred when floodwaters rushed into the Sagar Mini Hydro Power Project, following heavy rain, breaking a boundary wall.

New channel

Mumbai: NDTV Imagine, the entertainment venture of NDTV Ltd, has announced the launch of its latest initiative, Imagine Showbiz, a 24-hour Bollywood business and entertainment channel. The channel will go on air on August 15.

Lawyer knifed

Mumbai (PTI): A 60-year-old man stabbed his lawyer on Wednesday after he lost his case. Janardhan Koli first struck Ajay Harandas on the head with a beer bottle and then knifed him several times. Harandas was rushed to hospital and Koli was arrested.

Uphaar case

New Delhi (PTI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrants against the Ansal brothers and two others who were granted bail in the Uphaar Cinema fire case.

‘Wife’ price

Indore (PTI): A court has ordered a person to pay a monthly maintenance allowance to a woman whom he had abandoned after living together for some time and allegedly marrying her. Sonu Wadhwani has to pay Rs 2,000 to Sarita Chawla, who moved in with him after her divorce.
