Raiganj, Aug. 8: The district inspector of schools today show-caused the headmaster of the primary institution where textbooks were being burnt to cook mid-day meals for children.

Mozarul Haque has asked Debasish Singha of Kotgram Palpara Primary School to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

The subdivisional officer of Raiganj, Animesh Bhattacharya, had visited the school yesterday to conduct a separate inquiry.

Haque served the notice on the basis of an inquiry report submitted to him by his deputy, Supriya Chakraborty.

Sinha has been asked to reply to the notice within 10 days. Disciplinary action will be initiated against him if he fails to satisfy the authorities with his reply.

Bhattacharya said he would submit his report to the district magistrate. The headmaster, however, said he was yet to receive the show-cause notice.
