Grievance cell in a fortnight

Guwahati, Aug. 6: The proposed public grievances redress cell at Raj Bhavan will be functional soon with the development of a special software, Assam Governor Shiv Charan Mathur has said.

“We are in the process of developing a software for the cell. As soon as it is completed, the cell will be fully functional,” Mathur told the media today on the sidelines of a programme of the Assam branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.

He hinted that the cell would be totally functional within 10 to 15 days.

After a discussion with him, chief secretary P.C. Sharma had conveyed the plan to all departments, Mathur said, adding that the departments were asked to look into the complaints to be forwarded by the Raj Bhavan secretariat, on a priority basis.

“According to the nature of a complaint, the department concerned will be asked to act within a specific time and get back to my secretariat with the action taken report for conveying it to the complainants.”

Besides lodging complaints through the Internet, the complainants could also dial a number, Mathur said.

He would also personally listen to their complaints during periodic interactions, he said.

Raj Bhavan officials said already the number 0361-2606365 had been dedicated for the cell by the governor’s secretariat.

Mathur donated Rs 1 lakh to the Assam branch of the Society from his relief fund.
