Just when you thought Royal Enfield couldnt pull off another surprise, the classic bike-makers have launched their new mean machine — the all-new Thunderbird Twinspark, a cruiser that supposedly offers the smoothest ride on Indian roads. The Twinspark will take you from mummys lap to mother nature without missing a beat, boasts its tagline.
Some of the new features on the Twinspark seem to have been designed specifically keeping the fuel efficiency factor in mind. Equipped with symmetrical twin spark plugs that provide more power, higher torque and better mileage, this baby also comes with the unique Digital TCI (Transistorised Coil Ignition) System — which basically means that you save fuel, theres better pick-up and finally, easier cold starts on the Thunderbird; the last a nagging problem with Enfields. The new-look piston and piston rings also mean reduced oil consumption, while the engine integrated with the gearbox means that theres better power output. It also means that only one type of engine oil is required for this bike.
The bikes high RPM and the engine cut-off feature protects the engine from being revved beyond limit and increases engine life.
The looks and purr of the machine deserve a mention, too. An automatic primary chain tensioner means no manual adjustment is required. It also ensures longer life and less noise. Sounds cool? Check out the huge 280mm disc front brakes and 150mm rear drum brakes — as the company puts it, ideal for cruise trips.
The Thunderbirds always looked cool, but heres more: high density foam seats offer better support and are aesthetically a notch up from the previous models; with a backrest for pillion comfort. Rear gas-filled shock absorbers provide great damping and a bump-free ride. The heat shield on the silencer protects legs and clothes from accidental injuries.
