Ranchi, Aug. 3: Police recovered Rs 4.10 lakh out of Rs 22 lakh looted from the office of the Rungta Project Limited (RPL) at Khelari on June 22 this year.

Two country-made pistols with ammunition, two cellphones and the vehicles used to perpetrate the crime have been recovered from the three persons arrested.

Senior superintendent of police M.S. Bhatia produced the recovered amount, which was in the denomination of Rs 100 currency notes, firearms, ammunition, cellphone sets and arrested persons before the reporters at his office this evening.

Bhatia said that breakthrough came after the three persons were arrested from Beltharwa valley under Khelari police station area last evening following a tip- off.

Those arrested include Adam Ansari (42), a resident of Karkat Bahra Toli, Parwez Ansari (30), a resident of Chatwal village, and Ritesh Kumar Sao, a resident of Masmano village under Chanho police station.

Bhatia said Sao not only participated in the robbery operation at RPL office but also provided his car to commit the crime. About Adam and Parwez, Bhatia said, have criminal history.

“Adam was wanted in two cases of robberies registered at Ratu police station and Chanho police station in 1998, while Parwez is wanted in a case of robbery registered at Mandar police station last year in August,” Bhatia said.

Bhatia said the arrest of three persons would help police arrest the other three persons involved in the robbery. Rest other robbers, Bhatia said, include Munsaf Ansari, Maqsood and Seeraj. While Munsaf is a resident of Khelari, Maqsood and Seeraj are residents of Mandar, Bhatia said.

Six armed criminals had decamped with the salary of RCL staff after taking security guards hostage. A case was registered in that connection at Khelari police station. Later, a team was constituted under the leadership of deputy superintendent of police Vipul Shukla.
