Boys were in fine touch: Manoranjan

Calcutta: Coach Manoranjan Bhattacharjee feels that East Bengal’s 3-1 drubbing of Peerless will boost their chances in Tuesday’s derby against arch-rivals Mohun Bagan.

“Yeah this is obviously a good result for us,” Bhattacharjee said after the match.

“The players were confident and that’s a good sign when you are heading for a big match within a couple of days. They appeared in fine touch and this will help us on that big day,” he added.

He however, was unhappy with the ground conditions.

“It’s quite risky for players playing on such conditions. There’s always a chance of getting injured… and this also affects performance,” Bhattacharjee stated.

Meanwhile, Peerless coach, Mihir Bose alleged East Bengal’s second goal was scored from an off-side. “It was a clear off-side… Everybody witnessed it other than the referee,” Bose argued.
