Name of the game: Royal Challenge presents The Telegraph 7th Corporate Indoor Cricket Tournament.

Play podium: Skydrome, Space Circle.

The dates: August 6 to September 20.

Flashback: Going strong in its seventh year, the tournament started with 24 teams in the first year, increased to 36 in the second year and then saw the team count soar to a neat 64 in the last four years.

The game: The 45-day tournament will see some of the biggest corporate honchos hope to bowl out their opponents on the indoor pitch of Skydrome. The 7,000 sq-ft air-conditioned arena is designed to accommodate 64 teams on a first-come-first-serve basis. The eight-a-side game has simple rules that ensure every team member gets an opportunity to bat and bowl. Each team will get to play a minimum of three games to compete for the Gold, Silver and Bowl Plates.

The Final Nite on September 20 will be a grand finale to the tournament and special events like theme nights, band nights and food festivals during the weeks of play promise to up the spirits of all involved.

Big players: The names that find a place in the tournament every year are PWC, BOC (British Oxygen Company), Vesuvius, TATA Steel, IBM, M.N. Dastur & Co and Genpact. Also watch out for last year’s winners DPSC Limited (formerly Dishergarh Power Supply Company Ltd.)

Plus points: Each team will be treated as regular club members for the one-and-a-half-month span of the tournament, enabling players to use the club facilities like bowling, pool, swimming, rock climbing, tennis, air hockey and pistol shooting. The temporary membership can also be used to access the bar, discotheque and restaurants for much-needed refreshments and entertainment.

Deadline: The last date for entries is August 3.

Pocket pinch: The entry fee for a team is Rs 12,000 plus 12.36 per cent service tax. This will include the cost of 10 dinner tickets for the closing night.
