One-day squad after 2nd Test
Mumbai: The national selection panel headed by Dilip Vengsarkar will pick the squad for the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka after the second Test at Galle, the cricket board said on Monday. “The squad for the one-day series against Lanka would be chosen on August 6 in Mumbai. We are trying to pick the final squad of the Champions Trophy too on the same day though we have time till August 12 to do so”, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said.

London: Unable to break the stand-off over Twenty20 Champions league with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Board of Control of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Lalit Modi has made it clear that the tournament would be played in India from September 29-October 8 at three venues — Jaipur, New Delhi and Mohali.
Asif test
Karachi: Controversial Pakistan pacer Mohammed Asif, who tested positive during the inaugural Indian Premier League, will go for a ‘B’ sample test on August 6 in Switzerland, his lawyer said on Monday.
Shahid Karim, the embattled pacer’s lawyer, said the IPL anti-drugs committee has informed Asif about the test. Karim, however, said the time given to his client to prepare for the test was still limited.
Shoaib keen
Karachi: Keen to make the cut for the champion trophy, controversial pacer Shoaib Akhtar says he will appear in three practice games arranged by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to prove his fitness. While talking to reporters in Lahore, Akhtar said he needs just one more week to get back the rhythm and fitness.
ICL camp
Bangalore: The Indian Cricket League on Monday commenced its two-week training camp for its forthcoming season under the guidance of Jock Campbell, high performance director, ICL. One of ICL’s chief objectives is to stress on anti-doping at the training camp at Jain International School here. The camp aims at getting the players match fit for ICL’s forthcoming busy season.
