Stringed harmony
Sarod player Ranajit Sengupta is one of the best known Indian musicians in the West who has worked extensively with jazz, Western classical, world and fusion music. He met classical guitarist Miguel Guldimann during their performance in Germany in 2005. The duo continued working together for the last three years on their own compositions in India, Germany and Switzerland. This evening, they present Anouraag, a concert of their original compositions featuring Sengupta on the sarod and Guldimann on his 8-string guitar, accompanied by guest tabla players. A Sanskrit word for universal love, Anouraag is inspired by the classical traditions of the East and the West, and represents the mutual respect and love between two musicians from different cultural and geographical backgrounds. The items to be performed are Valentine, First Meeting, Anouraag (in raga Yaman), New Beginning and Dialog (in raga Patdip or minor scale) in the first half; and Consuelo (in raga Darbari Kanara), Beyond Horizons, Dunes and Takite in the second half of the programme.

Event: Fusion music concert of Indian classical sarod & Western classical guitar When: Today at 7 pm Where: Calcutta School of Music, Sandré Hall
