Dacoit attack

Durgapur, July 28: A 48-year-old man was beaten to death by armed dacoits on Sunday night after he spotted them scaling the wall of his neighbour’s house and raised an alarm. Police said Sasadhar Ghosh, a resident of Bishnupur in Bankura district, had gone out for a stroll near his house after dinner when he saw dacoits scaling the wall of Radhamadhab Goswami’s house. The dacoits rushed to him, dragged him behind a bush and beat him to death.

Free trippers

Calcutta: Some 200 ticketless travellers were caught during a checking drive in Adra division of South Eastern Railway on Sunday. The special squad conducted surprise checks also in Bankura, Chhatna, Nobanda and Ondagram.

Child workers

Calcutta: The state government would set up residential schools for child labourers in all 19 districts to rehabilitate them, minister of state Anadi Sahu told the Assembly.
