Los Angeles: Sania Mirza and partner Bethanie Mattek stormed into the quarterfinals of the $600,000 East West Bank Classic tournament after defeating Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva in straight sets here.

The second seeded Indo-American pair pipped the American- Russian duo 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the hard court event.

They next face Russian pair of Elena Versina and Vera Zvonareva, who beat American wild card Tracy Lin and Riza Zalameda 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round.

Sania won her singles first round match yesterday against Eva Hrdinova in straight sets.

She is now up against Chinese Meng Yuan in the second round.
