FDA keen on offices
New Delhi, July 20: To make the inspection of drug production more efficient, American health regulator the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is looking to set up offices in different parts of India. According to sources, FDA has submitted a proposal to the government for setting up offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. It is also interested in working in collaboration with the Drug Controller General of India.
Tea quality
Calcutta, July 20: The proposed regulatory framework for maintaining the quality and quantity of tea exports would be put in place in three months, Tea Board chairman Basudeb Banerjee said.
Lafarge plant
Calcutta, July 20: The one-million-tonne greenfield plant by French cement maker Lafarge at Mejia in Bengal is likely to begin commercial production by September-October, Damodar Valley Corporation chairman A.K. Burman said.
AUSPI petition
New Delhi, July 20: CDMA telecom operators association, AUSPI has filed a petition against the department of telecom before the sectoral tribunal TDSAT, seeking direction to cancel allotment of excess spectrum to GSM players beyond the contracted limit.
RBI report
Mumbai, July 20: Indias total outbound investments in joint ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries abroad grew 53.2 per cent in 2008 fiscal to $23 billion, compared with $15.06 billion in the previous fiscal, the RBI said in its monthly report.
